Iglesia Ni Cristo is a politically influential group in the Philippines. INC members are being intructed during elections to vote the politicians that the INC leadership are endorsing. Iglesia Ni Cristo members died in the violent EDSA3 protest. Gloria Arroyo declared State of Rebellion during EDSA3 • INC tried and failed to stop the Impeachment case of the Ombudsman in Congress. INC is known to be a supporter, friend and ally of Gloria Arroyo which survey says as the Most Corrupt President.
Eduardo V. Manalo, a loyal ally or a traitor to Gloria Arroyo?
Former Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez sent her resignation letter to President Noynoy Aquino just before the impeachment trial case begins in the House of Senate scheduled in May 2011. Gutierrez is believed to be a pet of Gloria Arroyo since GMA was the one who appointed Gutierrez as Ombudsman and as part of the impeachment case, very low persecution ratings was under Gutierrez during the Arroyo administration. From the Fertilizer fund scam and the NBN-ZTE deal, (which are both linked to Arroyo and her cohorts) Ombudsman Gutierrez did nothing or acted slowly to prosecute the responsible behind the scams. Arroyo and the Iglesia Ni Cristo did everything they can do to stop the impeachment case against Gutierrez in the Congress but failed. Now, Merceditas filed the resignation clearing the way of President Noynoy Aquino's plan to chase Arroyo down to the ground.
It appears to me that former Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez is now getting soft and raised the white flag for her fight to clear her name against the accusations filed in the Impeachment court? Is Gutierrez now turning her back to Gloria Arroyo and she is planning a full cooperation with Noynoy Aquino? How about Iglesia Ni Cristo, is INC going to betray the pact or their alliance with Gloria Arroyo?
Eraño G. Manalo • Joseph Estrada
Iglesia Ni Cristo endorsed Joseph Estrada as President in the 1998 elections. Estrada won as the 13th Philippine president. Under the Estrada administration, 2 INC members were appointed by Estrada as Secretary of Department of Justice (INC senior members Serafin Cuevas and Artemio Tuquero). On a sudden twist of fate, some call it conspiracy, Estrada was ousted and Gloria Arroyo took over the Malacanang Palace after the EDSA 2. In a show of continued support for Estrada, Iglesia Ni Cristo members were encouraged/ordered to join the violent anti-government protest of EDSA 3. INC members died in trying to unseat Gloria Arroyo.
Eduardo V. Manalo • Joseph Estrada
After the Manalo family and the Iglesia Ni Cristo made a big mistake on the EDSA 3, they have tried to make amends with Arroyo and decided to endorsed GMA as Philippine president in the controversial cheating-related 2004 Philippine election. Under the Arroyo administration, some INC members were appointed in key government positions (Aglipay as PNP chief and Wycoco as NBI chief). After the 2004 election, INC continued their support for Arroyo when the Iglesia Ni Cristo favored in voting the senatorial slate of Arroyo in the 2007 election. The Manalo family and the Iglesia Ni Cristo completely turned their back (betray is a strong word) to Joseph Estrada when they have decided not to endorse Estrada in the 2010 election. That is how cruel politics is, after they have used you and helped them, Iglesia NI Cristo will slowly walk away from you.
We also have to understand the situation on why Iglesia Ni Cristo opted not to endorse Estrada and decided to vote for Noynoy Aquino instead in the 2010 Philippine election. In May 2010, less than one year that Eduardo Manalo inherited the INC leadership from his father who died in August 2009, neophyte Eduardo has to choose a clear winner. Noynoy Aquino was leading all surveys before the election and it would be political rookie mistake to endorse a losing horse. Regardless of blood, honor and faith; the Manalo family have to hold on their mythical political influence because without it, Iglesia Ni Cristo cannot survive.
Eraño G. Manalo • Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
The Manalo family and the Iglesia Ni Cristo have enjoyed some treasured memorable moments under the Arroyo administration. From INC members on key government appointments and to declaring Iglesia Ni Cristo day to favor INC, the times for INC have never been happier. But the triumph of the wicked is short-lived, Eraño G. Manalo died without seeing the end of the corrupt regime of Arroyo. (poll says GMA is the Most Corrupt President).
2004 - Iglesia Ni Cristo endorsed the Most Corrupt President, Gloria Arroyo
2007 - Iglesia Ni Cristo supported the senatorial candidates of Gloria Arroyo
2011 - INC and the Macapagal-Arroyo clan tried to stop the Ombudsman impeachment
Eduardo V. Manalo • Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
Let's face it, Noynoy Aquino can win as the Philippine president even without the support of Iglesia Ni Cristo. Gloria Arroyo is the least popular president. And now that the midget politician is out of the Malacanang palace, the political influence of Arroyo is expected to weaken on a daily basis. The clear evidence was on the vote of the Congressmen on the Ombudsman Impeachment case. Initially, Gutierrez was on her fighting mode against Noynoy Aquino and his political allies looking forward to prosecute Arroyo and her cohorts. But Gutierrez decided to file her resignation from the office of Ombudsman. One by one, previous friends and allies of Gloria Arroyo are walking away from her. Is Eduardo Manalo ready to walk away from Gloria Arroyo like what the Manalo family and Iglesia Ni Cristo did with Joseph Estrada?
Is Iglesia Ni Cristo just another political leech who uses its allies
and ready to dispose them when they are already drained?
Will Eduardo Manalo remain an ally of the Most Corrupt President?
Will Eduardo Manalo betray the long-time family friend Gloria Arroyo?
President Noynoy Aquino, please watch your back.
Iglesia Ni Cristo maybe coming to scratch your back anytime soon.
